There are so many options in todays psychotherapy billing industry it can be overwhelming starting a search for one you're compatible with. Whether you're just beginning your private practice journey or are revamping your established practice, here are a few tips to help find the right-for-you billing company.

#1 | Evaluate Your Budget

First things first, you need to evaluate your budget. How much are you realistically willing to pay for a top-tier billing service? Every company has different fee's and packages and most

give you an idea of their cost on their website making it easier for you to determine if they fit your budget.

#2 | Shop Around

Reach out to several companies you feel drawn to and scheduled consultations. This will give you a more intimate feel for the company and gauge the compatibility of a professional partnership. Read testimonials, check out websites and ask colleagues for rec's. Finding the right fit might take some time so don't feel discouraged if the first few companies you consult with aren't the ones.

#3 | Know Your Expectations & Future Goals

Clearly outline the expectations you have for your potential billing service that fits your needs. Are you primarily looking for a company to handle all your billing or are you seeking some support on getting credentialed with insurance panels (or both of these things)? Is your goal to hire more clinicians at your practice or to increase your own caseload? Asking these questions will help clarify which areas a billing company can help support you best.

#4 | Trust Your Gut

Let's face it, we've all heard horror stories of botched billing companies and dishonest individuals in the industry which is why I want to highlight this tip. If you get a bad feeling about a company- trust it! The interview process is so important to help determine if the company has your best interest in mind or not.
